Ideas of what to write
Make it fun. List fun facts, or interesting trivia about your ancestors.
Examples can be favorite vacation spots, favorite foods, funny hobbies, favorite pets, fun
nicknames, etc. Make it so your kids and grandkids will have fun learning new stories
about their ancestors.
Don't make it too long.
Between five and six lines is about the right size. Below are some examples
of text written. Try and keep a similar style, and size to your text.
Examples:
Carol Joy Johnson Smith was born on October 12, 1952. She loves to sew presents
like Raggedy Ann & Andy dolls and Cabbage Patch Kids. She also loves to sew pretty
dresses and quilts. Her favorite flowers are daisies, which were in her wedding bouquet.
Grandma Smith loves to read, sing silly songs like her mom did, and be with her grandkids.
Her favorite silly song was "Little bunny foo foo" which she would sing early in
the morning in her pajamas. She always does fun things for holidays too, like make green
pancakes for St. Patrickšs day.
Scott L. Smith was born on November 7, 1949. He is always thinking of fun inventions like
mousetraps, and barbeques, and even helpful inventions for work. Grandpa Smith loves to
weld and fix things that break especially his kids' cars. He makes belt buckles too out of
nuts and bolts. He loves to use his hands in big gestures when he talks. Hešs a
character, too. He likes to get into water fights, and steal the cookie off your plate
even before you can tell what happened. His favorite line to steal your food is "Look
at the size of that bird!", which works almost every time.
Heber Clyde Phillips was born on April 17, 1907. He was an adopted boy who loved his
parents. Grandpa Phillips loved to play the "Human Banjo" on his grandkids by
tickling them under their arms. Their laughter was the music. He also liked to play bumper
cars with the footstools in the living room. Grandpa Phillips loved to eat ketchup, and he
would put it on almost everything. He was very handy as a carpenter too, making
bookshelves and doll cradles for his kids.
Can I have custom drawings?
Custom work including photo retouching, photo editing, new illustrations,
or changes to existing illustrations is available at additional cost. (Average cost for a
custom new illustration is around $30 to $40 each).
